Bouquets: Yes, There really are Multiple Options

Wooden Bouquets

wood.JPG

PROS

Wooden bouquets are just as they sound - bouquets made out of wood! Wood isn’t the first material you would think of for flowers and really is such a juxtaposition of a hard material to be made into something that looks soft and whimsical, but trust me it works! The big pro to purchasing a wooden bouquet is that it can outlast your wedding day. There won’t be any wilting flowers and you can keep it for forever after your wedding date!

This is a great option for brides that want tropical/ out of season/ or just outright expensive types of flowers involved in their bouquet! Because the flowers are all made of wood you can pretty much include any type of flower, color, and arrangement you’d like!

CONS

Depending on who you purchase your bouquet from and the extravagance of what you’re looking for the cost of wooden bouquets can get pricey! There is a lot of craftsmanship involved in perfecting the bouquets and you’ll want to splurge on the vendor that makes the most quality and realistic version possible, because like I said, it lasts forever!

Wooden as hard as it may be is also prone to breaking over time from storage and just the overall delicate nature of how thin some of the pieces are after being shaped into flowers. You’ll want to also purchase a box to store it in or a special vase to have it out on your counter to avoid it being broken.

Silk Bouquets

Faux.JPG

PROS

These arrangement are made with high quality, silk (artificial) flowers and elements. You know when you walk up to a plant and have to touch it to determine if it’s real or not and something even after touching it you still aren’t quite sure? That’s the affect these bouquets will have on you. They’re beautiful and look and feel 100% real. Bonus: They’re also lightweight so it won’t feel like you’re lugging something around with you down the aisle!

Perfect if you’re planning a destination wedding! They are way more luggage friendly than wooden bouquet and less likely to break when packing and just over the years of storage in general.

CONS

When I mentioned wooden bouquets being expensive it really doesn’t compare to how costly faux flowers can be! They’re a whole lot easier to store and look great on your counter afterwards, but boy do they cost a handful! Because vendors purchase only the best, most realistic quality flowers and greenery (this is a good thing!) silk bouquets that are great quality will almost always be priced at over $200.

Bouquet Wreaths

wreath.JPG

PROS

These are typically made with 10" hoops and the same high quality silk flowers as you’d find in silk bouquets. It’s a more affordable option to the silk bouquets, because way less florals and greenery are involved in making them and the hoop itself is an affordable material.

Place it on the wall or door, under a shelf as a wreath for stunning display after your wedding day.

CONS

Wreath bouquets have a certain look to them that isn’t for every bride. They’re perfect for a rustic wedding or for your bridesmaids, though! Keep in mind that wedding photos photographers usually like to use the bouquet for detail shots, close ups, and overall just as a prop, but the nature of the wreath can make it kind of an awkward prop to include in photos other than the walk down the aisle.

PROS

Made out of succulents, these bouquets are long lasting! They can be taken apart after you wedding day and planted in terrariums all over your home to grown on and be constant reminders of your special day!

CONS

Yes succulents last a long time, but that doesn’t mean you can order your bouquet months in advance! Succulents are living and that does mean if you want your bouquet looking its best and lasting a long time after your wedding date you have to place your bouquet order in advance, but with a delivery date of 2 weeks max before your wedding date.

Seashell Bouquets

PROS

Made out of seashells and the perfect bouquet option for beach elopements and weddings! It’s a unique option that will have your family and friends in awe, and is one of the most affordable bouquet options out there.

CONS

These bouquets aren’t typically something kept by brides after the wedding day unless you have some kind of beach themed bathroom or bedroom in your home! They also have a delicate nature similar to wood bouquets that means storing them in a box if you do decide to keep it!

Paper Bouquets

paper.JPG

PROS

Paper bouquets are made by origami queens! There’s typically a fast turn around time to receive your bouquet, because sourcing the paper for them is not as difficult as is purchasing silk florals or carving flowers out of wood. Also, because they’re made out of paper you’re pretty much just paying for the craftsmanship involved not the material costs.

CONS

They’re super delicate and if there is even the slightest chance of rain on your big day do not take the risk! It would be so awful to be walking down the aisle with your bouquet shriveling to pieces in your hand! These bouquets are also not as realistic looking as real flowers and there are limitations on the types of flowers and greenery you can include.

Clay Bouquets

clay.JPG

PROS

Clay flowers are handmade out of clay and each made unique with love and high craftsmanship skill! They look incredibly realistic, more so than silk flowers do, in my opinion. They can be designed based off of any photo inspo or idea and created with any color or flower type. Clay bouquets are truly works of art and fully customizable keepsake pieces.

CONS

Because of the amount of craftsmanship involved and the delicate handling involved in shipping these bouquets there is a longer turn around time and cost to purchasing them.
